Baby Update

So I went to the doctor's today and everything is looking great. Lately I have been a little worried about just how big this baby is..... I mean Daryl Grunau is the father!!!
So I asked Doctor Stalker (that's her name...) if she could tell how big the baby is and she said that she is pretty good at it. So the results...... she said that I was a little under the average size, so she guessed that the baby would probably be around 7 pounds 3-5 oz. YAY!!! I'm not going to give birth to a toddler!!!
Also I would just like to let you all know tht we are having an ultrasound tomorrow afternoon and hopefully we will be able to find out the sex of the baby.... we'll keep you all posted.
Stay tuned!!

8 weeks to go.....

Well I am now 32 weeks pregnant, and I am still getting the "so are you due any moment" question. I would like to point out that I have been getting this question for a couple of months already. I think that the people who have asked my that have never actually seen a nine month pregnant lady up close!!
I am feeling really good, and the baby is moving like crazy!!! I read somewhere that the baby is getting so big now that it can't really move.... I don't think our baby is aware of that information. We have a lot of fun watching my belly move and buldge. If reminds me of a sci-fi film where an alien explodes from a person's belly!!
I can't believe it is only 8 weeks away. In some ways that feels like a long time, but I think it will go by fairly fast. Right now I am volunteering at YFC, helping with California Breakaway. It has really helped to make the time go by faster. I am there probably about 2 or 3 times a week and I am really enjoyiing it.
Well stay tuned for my 36 week picture.... I can't imagine how much bigger I can get, but I know it's going to happen!
Take care!!

World Water Day

So I was checking out my husbands blog and he has this new banner on it that will take you to the ONE campaign website to fight world poverty. On this website there was a link to the World Water Day site, which just happens to be today.
Apparently in 1992 the UN made March 22nd World Water day, to promote giving everyone access to clean healthy water.
Here is just a little information they had on the site:

"The facts are mind boggling. More than 1 billion people world wide – 20% of the planet’s entire human population – lack access to clean, safe drinking water. According to the United Nations, this world water crisis leads to the death of more than 4,500 children every day and is a leading cause of poverty, disease, and social instability world wide."

I guess I am a little frustrated because I have never heard about this and it's been going on for over 10 years. It seems like all the fundraising is happening in the US, which is annoying considering that the UN is the one that started it, not the US. The website even said that Starbucks is one of the corporate sponsors, but I guess that is only in the US too.

Anyways I just thought that it was interesting that I have never heard anything about it, and that there are a bunch of fundraisers happening in the states but nothing happening in Canada.

What's left of our car

In case some of you don't know, we were hit by another vehicle two weeks ago on Saturday. The weather really sucked, and we got hit by a Pathfinder. Thankfully the car was parked and no one was in it. Also we were really fortunate that the guy stuck around to exchange information.
This picture actually looks pretty good, but there is about $7700 worth of damage.... but it wasn't a write off!!!! The inside of the trunk looks pretty pitiful and you can see the road from the inside as well as being able to see the inside of our trunk from the outside. Daryl had to use a screw driver to pry open the gas tank. Maybe that was a good thing because it pre occupied him from the fact that gas went up 8 cents to 98.9.!!!!! We are getting our car fixed on Monday and it will probably be in the shop for about a week. So we will be driving a rental for a while. Hopefully it will be nice . I don't really care so long as our little Corolla comes back to us safe and sound. I am also very excited to stop hearing the trunk pieces rattle around at every bump. And I am a little sick of people walking by laughing at our back end!!!

"True" Beauty

So I have been reading Captivating by John and Stasi Eldridge. It is all about the Woman's heart and God's design for women. On a side note, John wrote a book for men along the same lines called Wild at Heart.

I am now in the part of the book that is talking about a woman's beauty, and how we can unveil our true, god-given beauty.
The thing that really struck me was the parrallel between beauty and vulnerability. The authors talk about true beauty not being about our looks, our usefulness, or even our abilities, but instead it is about our spirits and the peace and rest that can be found there. I should point out that they do not say that true beauty is being meek and soft-spoken, but it is about being open, real, and at rest with who you are as a woman created by God.
"A woman who is unveiling her beauty is inviting others to life. She risks being vulnerable: exposing her true heart and inviting others to share theirs.... For a woman to unveil her beauty means she is offering her heart.... Offering her presence. The gift of presence is a rare and beautiful gift. To come-unguarded, undistracted- and be fully present, fully engaged with whoever we are at that moment."
I have really been hungry lately for a safe community where I can be vulnerable, and where others feel that they can be vulnerable to me as well. And when I envision that place, where women can come and be who they are; no masks, no pretending and no clouding over with busyness, I picture real beauty.
I have just started a group on Wednesdays, where women come together. It is my desire that this will become a place of beauty and vulnerability, and that this honesty and openess will go beyond just a once a week event.
I really reccomend that women read the book "Captivating". I found there was a bit that didn't really seem to apply in my life, but it is an excellenct book and it has made me think about how God created me as a woman, and what that relationship is supposed to look like.

What's in a name?

So I thought that I would join in on this whole blogging thing. I thought this would be a good place to share what's going on in our lives and to eventually put up pictures of our baby!!! So right now, I need your help..... I was trying to come up with a name for this blog and I just wasn't able to come up with anything. I'll blame it on my pregnancy head instead of my lack of creativity. So if anyone can share a name for our blog that would be great.
